Private Wedding in Lake Placid, NY

Challenge: Create a unique and intimate environment for a wedding and reception on a remote sloping meadow overlooking mount Marcy and the high peaks of the Adirondacks. The father of Bride wanted a very clean look with all of the “back of house operations” out of sight. In addition the Bride and Groom hired their favorite rock band “Enter the Haggis” to play but wanted this to be a surprise for the guests. This was to be a one of a kind wedding that the guests would talk about long after.

Solution: For the ceremony, we installed a 9mx15m clear top Losberger tent on a 32x60 Strata floor with the gable end overlooking Mount Marcy. David Schmidt and his team from Renaissance Floral decorated the tent with arching birch trees and hundreds of vials of Queens Ann Lace suspended throughout tent. The guests were then transported to the adjacent property for the cocktail hour and reception.

The guests arrived and walked through a wooded pathway with café lights strung throughout the trees to a 44x105 Stillwater cocktail tent with an adjacent 32’ round Stillwater Catering tent. The cocktail tent was floored and carpeted and had multiple lounge settings of vintage furniture. The Caterer created outstanding food displays with our farm tables as the base. We helped David Install dozens of parasols in the tent ceiling. We installed color blast LED lights and black perimeter light to complete the inside look.

For the Main Reception and “Surprise Concert” we installed all Losberger tents. The main dining tent was a 20mx35m Losberger with two domed centers and a clear Apse end which faced Mount Marcy. We installed two internal gable ends and custom drapery to create the secret performance/dance section of the tent. All the satellite tents were also Losberger tents so the external look was clean and uniform. We installed a 9mx24m kitchen tent, 12mx9m restroom lounge tent and a 9mx9m production tent. In order to accommodate the sloping meadow, all tents were installed on a level Strata floor which went from 0 to 6’ high. A custom Adirondack Staircase was built in order to allow the guests to enter the reception tent which was 6’ off the ground. To complete the Adirondack look we built a wraparound porch in front of the Apse end overlooking Mount Marcy.

Inside the reception tent the guests were seated at a combination of farm tables and round tables with linen. All tables were highlighted with pin spot’s, the tent was washed in warm color with our color blast lights and multiple suspended candle light chandeliers. To further surprise the guests, a dinner band played with a small dance floor in front. After the FOB gave a heartwarming speech we pulled the curtains back and Enter the Hagis started to perform. As the guests entered the performance/Dance section of the tent graffiti exploded and the crowd danced the night away.
